چکیده

Aims: Medicinal plants used by traditional medical practitioners (TMP) to treat cancers are considered safe when alone or combined with conventional therapy ensure their effectiveness and eliminate the toxic effects of orthodox medicines. Using cytotoxic antioxidant studies, study attempted assess some commonly medicinal cure cancer among Yoruba people in Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Lagos (South-West, Nigeria).
Study Design: Samples utilized anticancer obtained from chosen areas using physical virtual oral seminars were studied for physiochemical composition a possible potential validate basis use selected plants.
Methodology: Online academic literature searches done on cited identify already-exploited plants. The ethanolic extracts plant examined presence bioactive components total flavonoid content, focusing quercetin detection thin layer bioautography (TLB) brine shrimp lethality assay (BSLA) cytotoxicity. In comparison ascorbic acid, scavenging superoxide radical (SOR), hydrogen peroxide, 2, 2-Diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) activity model (most biologically active) was also evaluated.
Results: There only twelve species that not related studies: Lannea egregia, Ficus exasperate, Croton zambesicus, Tetrapleurai tetraptera, Terminalia catappa, Zanthoxylum zanthoxyloides, Plumbago zelanica, Hilleria latifolia, Bryophyllum pinntum, Chromolena odorata, Brysocarpus coccineus Spondias mombin. contained mineral substances like saponins, protein, lipids, magnesium, calcium, iron, zinc, decreased Na/K concentration. had fair amount flavonoids variable levels L. egeregia regarded as prototype due its profound concentration (85.40 µg/mL) cytotoxicity (9.46 compared other extracts. TLB demonstrated quercetin, dose-dependent property. model's overall (34.72 slightly lower than (30.44 but higher acid (41.68 µg/mL).
Conclusion: results support nutritional dietary supplements, whose compounds relevant managing patients. plant’s principles need be characterized future research.
